IMPROVING YOUR BLOGS

ARCHIVE FOR THE ‘TV DRAMA’ CATEGORY

0
You will need to make sure that your blog has a clear THEME — make it personal and relevant to Media.
Key things to learn and discuss:
• What is the dashboard and how do I use it?
• What are the blog stats?
• How are comments used and what is the use of them?
CATEGORIES: these are the chapters of your blog, the main way that you will find useful information so you HAVE TO HAVE good CATEGORIES - see the main list I handed out on day 1 - it is on the wall in S9.
The main categories are COURSEWORK, sub-category PRELIM and MAIN TASK, and then Mrs McDonald-Holmes (Master Blog), EXAM, sub-categories: TV  DRAMA, and AUDIENCES AND INSTITUTIONS.
EVERYTHING NEEDS A CATEGORY:
How do I make a good post, using Tags and Categories? How do you create a TAG and CATEGORY cloud?
• How do I upload images, podcasts and video straight onto my blog?
• You need to show your skills off that you know how to design a blog.
• How do I make links between various websites and categorise them?
• How do I add Widgets and Themes?
• How do I make a new Header and Background?
• How do I embed links between websites?
• How do I add Twitter, FaceBook and Tumblr buttons to share my posts with everyone?
PLEASE NOTE: Make sure that your THEME actually shows your WHOLE blog post. You will need to check this by trialling your THEME. If it does not, then you MUST change the THEME. Or go to SETTINGS, READING and make sure that “For each article in a feed, show”. Full text.
OTHER KEY AREAS: You need to have a YouTube account, Gmail account, you need a decent sized USB or Memory Card. If there are financial issues, you need to discuss with us.

Contact Sheets for all images - greenscreen, city, backgrounds etc

It’s easy, and you don’t need any special photo software.

Here’s how to print a “contact sheet” in Windows:
  1. Open the Pictures library by clicking the Start button and then clicking Pictures. Navigate to the place where the pictures are that you want to print and open the folder.
  2. Click the pictures you want to print as thumbnails. (To select more than one, hold down the Ctrl key as you click, or you can select a range of photos by shift-clicking.)
  3. On the toolbar, click Print.
  4. In the Print Pictures dialog box, select the printer, paper size and type, and the number of copies you want to print, and then click Contact sheet in the list of print sizes. You can also print to a PDF file.
  5. Click Print to start printing.
All of the images you take you must print them out and save them to post up on your blog - have them ready for Tuesdays lesson so we can decided which images to use.
